Symposium Overview
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has brought unprecedented opportunities and challenges to the fields of translation and interpreting. AI tools are reshaping professional practice, education models, and market structures, while prompting deeper reflection on human identity, professional ethics, and cultural meaning. Yet, translation and interpreting have continually evolved alongside social, technological, and cultural changes throughout history, consistently demonstrating their irreplaceable value.
This symposium aims to provide a platform for dialogue among scholars, professionals, and educators to explore the many facets of change and continuity in translation and interpreting. From the application of AI tools in professional practice to the enduring importance of ethics, semiotics, and cultural transmission, the symposium seeks to reexamine the roles of translators and interpreters in cross-linguistic and cross-cultural communication. Through discussion and reflection, we hope to build bridges between innovation and tradition, technology and the humanities.
